He says that it\u2019s import<\/span>ant that the school stays updated with Toronto Public Health and the Ontario Ministry of Health to avoid any misinformation about the virus.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pamela Homiak, a health and safety specialist at Humber College says \u201cthe college has a committee focused on the coronavirus and several departments, including health and safety, are participating on that committee.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re all ears to the ground,\u201d Turriff says. \u201cWhen there is something to communicate out, students can be rest assured that we\u2019ll be doing so.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Jan. 27, 2020, the University of Guelph Humber sent out an email regarding the Coronavirus to all students, instructors, and staff to remind them to stay home if they are feeling sick, alongside tips for prevention of any viruses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jamie Margarette Vergara, a communications and public relations assistant at the University of Guelph Humber says \u201cstudents should be receiving emails, should there be any major updates that affect campus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite students receiving emails, Turriff says that the school wants to make sure that they don\u2019t over communicate. \u201cWhen we do come out with a message that students need to take note of, it\u2019s concise messaging,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Vergara, that means students will be updated through emails, social media, and the University of Guelph Humber\u2019s official website in order to \u201cmake sure that the word has been put out to every channel and so that it\u2019s accessible to everyone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs the Ministry of Health and Toronto Public Health have been saying, there\u2019s a very low risk at this point in time. That\u2019s one message that we want to perpetuate,\u201d says Turriff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kevin Lebar, a fourth year kinesiology student at the University of Guelph Humber says that he\u2019s already seen some students being cautious. \u201cSome students I\u2019ve seen taking precautions by wearing a mask,\u201d he says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lebar says, \u201cIf something were to happen in school, I feel like the school would actually take more steps to prevent further development of it.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m not gonna be worried in case it starts actually <\/span>spreading,\u201d Lebar says.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another fourth year kinesiology student, Avery Rodriguez says that he\u2019s \u201cnot super worried\u201d about the virus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of fear in the media,\u201d says Rodriguez. \u201cThere\u2019s cases of Coronavirus here, but I don\u2019t think a lot of people are dying here from what I\u2019ve heard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yakov Mikhlin is a fourth year toxicology student at the University of Toronto who says he often discusses the Coronavirus with professors and students alike.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Miklhin says that he works in a laboratory at the University of Toronto with professors and graduate students. \u201cMany of the professors have done extensive research, and after conversations with them, it seems that for the <\/span>most part, we shouldn\u2019t be too worried.
