However, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/59451\/investing-in-ontarios-tourism-industry-during-covid-19\">press release<\/a> on Dec. 3, the Ministry<span>\u00a0of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries announced that it would be investing nearly $4.4 million to help the tourism industry in the province.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><div class=\"perfect-pullquote vcard pullquote-align-full pullquote-border-placement-left\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;This pandemic continues to disproportionately impact tourism and culture &#8211; two major industries which were hit first, the hardest and will take the longest to recover,&#8221; the statement read quoting Minister Lisa MacLeod.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/div><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is critical that we support organizations as they adapt and find new ways to engage and reconnect Ontarians with their local communities while creating local jobs.&#8221;[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;11722&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_separator]<div id=\"ultimate-heading-47026a1b337b274fd\" class=\"uvc-heading ult-adjust-bottom-margin ultimate-heading-47026a1b337b274fd uvc-1650 \" data-hspacer=\"no_spacer\"  data-halign=\"left\" style=\"text-align:left\"><div class=\"uvc-heading-spacer no_spacer\" style=\"top\"><\/div><div class=\"uvc-main-heading ult-responsive\"  data-ultimate-target='.uvc-heading.ultimate-heading-47026a1b337b274fd h2'  data-responsive-json-new='{\"font-size\":\"\",\"line-height\":\"\"}' ><h2 style=\"font-weight:normal;\">Air travel in turmoil: Pearson and COVID-19<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13873&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;10px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13921&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Toronto&#8217;s Pearson airport has been hit hard by the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>According to the airport&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.torontopearson.com\/en\/healthy-airport\/reimagining-your-airport-experience\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0the first thing travellers will notice when entering the terminal is the large signage indicating that face coverings are required at all times. Also, the signage says <span>that &#8220;only travellers flying on the same day or employees on duty can enter the terminals to help limit crowding and reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;26px&#8221;][vc_column_text]Trevor Foote, a first-year student at the University of Toronto flew to Toronto from Richmond, B.C. in September.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the experience walking from the gate to the exit &#8220;was the same as it would normally be, except much less crowded.&#8221; The only noticeable difference was that &#8220;everyone was wearing a mask,&#8221; Foote added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;10px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13650&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;fadeInRight&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;5px&#8221;][vc_column_text]*Statistical information from Toronto Pearson&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.torontopearson.com\/en\/corporate\/partnering-with-us\/air-services\/airport-and-market-facts\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">webpage.<\/span><\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;10px&#8221;][vc_column_text]On the government of Canada&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/diseases\/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection\/latest-travel-health-advice\/exposure-flights-cruise-ships-mass-gatherings.html#wb-auto-5\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">website,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0there were 41 flights with confirmed COVID-19 cases that landed in Toronto in the last two weeks. According to the website,\u00a011 domestic flights with confirmed exposure to the virus originated from Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>International flights with confirmed exposure to COVID-19 originated from transborder flights such as New York, Chicago and Boston, according to the list provided by the Canadian government.<\/p>\n<p><span>Even though all international travellers coming into Canada are <\/span><span class=\"link inline-link \">required to quarantine for 14 days<\/span><span>, there are no similar requirements for domestic travellers flying into Ontario. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Toronto&#8217;s Pearson airport has a dedicated webpage that shows all of the confirmed cases in different sectors at the airport.
