If students walked through the second floor of the University of Guelph-Humber building\u00a0and looked to the left, they\u2019d probably notice that the cafe is closed. Alex Hoa, retail services officer, said they are planning to open in winter 2022.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

In the meantime, students have made their\u00a0own lunch or walked to Humber College.\u00a0 Here are some alternative choices around campus\u00a0while students wait.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

For lunch, students said they <\/span>would often say sandwiches and baked goods like cookies from the GH cafe.<\/span> Starbucks at the north Humber is a campus came up as a place students like to eat at.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Second-year media student Isabella says she like Starbucks because it\u2019s \u201ca good alternative to have. I like the drinks there.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The Street Cafe, that is around the intersection of GH and Humber\u00a0is another place that came up. Third-year student\u00a0Nicole\u00a0Costin chose The Street Cafe because she wanted to explore other food options. \u201cI\u2019ve seen many food choices there. There aren\u2019t many here.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

While it is fine staying on-campus, if GH students want more variety, then going off-campus will be beneficial because there are a lot of choices.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Another benefit of going off-campus and are a lot of these restaurants close later than restaurants on campus which is good for students who attend late night classes.\u00a0They\u00a0can also order by phone, and online with their app or third-party delivery (Uber Eats, Skip The Dishes, and Door Dash).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

First, there is the McDonald\u2019s\u00a0at Carrier Drive. Third-year family & communications social services student Sarah Singh recommends going because it has \u201csome variety\u201d compared around GH and Humber. Another place is Harvey\u2019s at Finch Avenue. Second-year childhood studies student Emily Galati, recommends it because it\u2019s inexpensive and \u201csomething different.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u00a0There are other popular food chains\u00a0at Finchwood\u00a0Plaza such as Tim Hortons, Subway, and Burger King.\u00a0It also has Indian restaurants, Desi\u00a0Spice and Osmow\u2019s\u00a0Shawarma, Honest Restaurant Etobicoke,\u00a0Mr. Greek and Pizza Hub.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

If students want places closer to\u00a0the university\u00a0then Humber 27 Plaza should be a fitting place for them.\u00a0In the plaza, there are a variety of restaurants\u00a0to choose from.\u00a0There is\u00a0a pizza place\u00a0City South Pizza, sushi place,\u00a0Hoya Sushi.\u00a0If students are tired of Ackee Tree,\u00a0and want to\u00a0explore other\u00a0Caribbean food,\u00a0Flava Ceen\u00a0and\u00a0Callaloo Taste of Caribbean\u00a0are great places to try.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Now it looks like the GH cafe is coming back. That\u2019s good because some students call it inconvenient it\u2019s closed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cIt\u2019s inconvenient,\u201d says Stephen Pickett, third-year media student. \u201cI have to do my work around the library or study hall.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

\u201cIt inconvenient because there\u2019s not many food options around the campus\u00a0besides Starbucks.\u201d, says fourth-year media student Jessica Liqourich.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
