Look Elsewhere"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">J<\/span>ob fairs might be thought as the answer for anyone who\u2019s looking for employment. If you\u2019re a student, though, your search might be harder then you expected. That\u2019s what students found out at the NAPP Canada Job Fair at Woodbine Centre Mall a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hire full-time workers, so unless if the student only had school on the weekends or something like that then they wouldn\u2019t really be able to work for us,\u201d Mike Lake from White Shark Ltd., a window cleaning company, said.<\/p>\n<p>And it was the same case for most of the other employers at the event as well, who said that they didn\u2019t regularly hire or had never hired any students at their workplaces before. In fact, if you\u2019re a student, then your only option may just be to go the retail route. \u201cWe see many students come to our table at these job fairs, and we hire many as part-time employees,\u201d Lauren Bishop from Bed, Bath and Beyond said. \u201cWe can work around their school schedules so they can work for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NAPP Canada hosts many job fairs around the country and is a \u201cleader in job, employment, and training events for connecting businesses to skilled professionals quickly.\u201d When asked whether students often get employed at their job fairs, a spokesperson for them said that \u201cthere is a variety of employers\u201d at their events and that it was \u201cultimately up to the employer\u2019s decision whether they would want to hire a student or not. Some of them do, some of them don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other employers said that it came down to students\u2019 schedules. \u201cIn terms of skills it could go either way, it\u2019s just more to do with their availability,\u201d Amanda Gibson from Pivotal Integrated HR Solutions said.<\/p>\n<p>Advitee Kapoor, a first year business student at Humber College, was in attendance.
