The Golden Girl<\/h1>\n

\u00a0Jackie Jarrell, owner of Gold Performance Training, is a Team Canada athlete training younger athletes for success.<\/h4>\nE<\/span>veryone is good at something, and for Jackie Jarrell, she happens to be good at inline hockey.<\/p>\n

Jackie Jarrell<\/p><\/div>\n

Joining the Canadian women’s inline team in 2006,\u00a0<\/span>Jarrell tried out for the women\u2019s team after seeing them compete in a tournament in Detroit that year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jarrell grew up playing ice hockey and at the time of tryouts, was going to school in the US on a sports scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a player who performed well under pressure, Jarrell went on to collect ten medals and be awarded “MVP” in international tournaments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her athleticism has earned her sponsorship deals with companies like Biosteel and UnderArmour.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been very fortunate to play for Team Canada for ten years,\u201d said Jarrell, \u201cand to have played in ten tournaments.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Although playing for Canada has been a dream come true for Jarrell, she wanted to do more for her community.<\/p>\n

So in August 2015, Jarrell opened Gold Performance Training on a plot of land across the street from her parents diary farm.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am very close with my family.\u201d said Jarrell, \u201cIt was important for me to have it [Gold Performance Training] in the country, on the farm where I grew up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Gold Performance Training is a fitness centre for all, and the next training step for young athletes who want to compete on a provincial or national level in their sport. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that there\u2019s a lot of character within the facility and I have a ton of room to do all kinds of different types of training on the appropriate seasons.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Jarrell has trained multiple athletes who have gone to play on sport scholarships, for the OHL, and one athlete currently playing for Canada Rugby.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Friends and family of Jarrell have been very supportive of her business, even when some of them weren’t sure of the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember when she was building her gym,\u201d said Donna Forbes, assistant coach of the women\u2019s Inline hockey team and general manager of the league.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was like \u2018Jackie, you\u2019re gonna build a gym?\u2019\u201d said Forbes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn my head I was thinking like, \u2018Whose going to drive out to the country, when they can go into the city for a gym?\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then, she invited me out to the gym.\u201d said Forbes, \u201cWhen I saw it.. I was like, \u2018This is phenomenal!\u2019\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLike, I get it now\u2026.you build it, and they will come!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
