This year alone, we were introduced to two new streaming services by big name companies: Apple TV+, launched on November 1, and Disney+, launched on November 12.<\/p>\n

In a survey of 122 people, GH360 asked how many video subscription services people subscribe to. Options included Netflix, Crave, Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Disney+. The results are below.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=”35″ parallax_content=”parallax_content_value” parallax_content_sense=”30″][vc_column][vc_line_chart x_values=”Netflix; Crave; Prime Video; Disney+; Apple TV+;” values=”%5B%7B%22title%22%3A%22Yes%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%22120%3B%2026%3B%2055%3B%2063%3B%2011%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22green%22%2C%22custom_color%22%3A%22%23f4524d%22%7D%2C%7B%22title%22%3A%22No%22%2C%22y_values%22%3A%222%3B%2096%3B%2067%3B%2059%3B%20111%3B%22%2C%22color%22%3A%22juicy-pink%22%2C%22custom_color%22%3A%22%235472d2%22%7D%5D” title=”Students usage of streaming services”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Based on the results, 98 per cent of those surveyed are subscribed to Netflix, regardless if they subscribe to an additional platform as well.<\/p>\n

33 per cent subscribe to at least three or more of these services, with two participants subscribing to all five.<\/p>\n

When asked who pays for these services, 53 participants said pay themselves, 58 participants share with their parents and\/or friends and 10 participants chose not to answer.<\/p>\n

Launched on November 1, 2019.<\/p>\n

It is unknown how many subscribers Apple TV+ currently has.<\/p>\n[\/vc_hoverbox][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Humber College Lakeshore public relations student Brenna expressed her frustration about the emergence of more streaming services, “with more and more streaming platforms launching and the costs attached, it’s beginning to feel like monthly streaming costs are equivalent to cable television.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Out of the five surveyed services, Brenna prefers Netflix because of the original content it produces, which she resembles to the high quality of network shows.<\/p>\n
